Fees and Rebates.
We have a simple fee structure and we offer a range of rebates depending on what sort of referral you have and which psychologist you choose to see. Sessions are 50 minutes in duration.
Medicare rebates
Medicare rebates are available if you have a referral from your doctor and they have completed a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

Please note:
- All clients must pay the full fee for the consultation at the end of the session. Our team will then process the Medicare Rebate for you. Your rebate will be paid back into the bank account you have registered with Medicare.
- You need to bring a copy of the Referral Letter and Mental Health Care Plan to your first consultation. Without the referral, you will not receive the rebate from Medicare.
- All fees are subject to change. We review fees at the end of each financial and calendar year.
How do I get a Medicare rebate?
Simply make an appointment with your GP to request a Mental Health Care Plan. It is a good idea to request a longer consultation time. Medicare will provide a rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Typically, the initial Mental Health Care Plan is for 6 sessions. A further 4 sessions may be issued following a visit to your GP for a review. Remember to bring your referral and MHCP with you to your first session to claim the rebate.
Clients who are referred to GCPC by their Psychiatrist or Paediatrician are also eligible to receive the Medicare rebate and do not require a GP Mental Health Care Plan.
Health Funds
If you wish to pay privately, please contact your private health insurer to find out if you can claim for psychological services. Please be aware that you can only make a claim from one source (either Medicare or your health fund) for each consultation.
Self-Referral
You don’t need a referral to see a psychologist. If you do not wish to visit your GP to obtain a referral or are not eligible under Medicare, you are still welcome to make an appointment to see one of our Psychologists. Standard Session Fees apply.
Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)
Our services are fully covered for individuals with a DVA Gold Card. If you possess a DVA White Card, we advise consulting the Department of Veteran Affairs to confirm eligibility for psychology services.
Diagnostic Assessment
The duration and cost of assessment varies depending upon the presenting concern, and is determined during the initial consultation. As a general guide, the assessment process takes between two and six sessions, with cost ranging from $600 to $2000. Medicare rebates are available in some instances with a GP or specialist referral.
Cancellation Policy
Gold Coast Psychology Centre has a 48-hour cancellation and rescheduling policy. If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please notify us no later than 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. This gives us enough time to offer your appointment to other clients. If you cancel or change your appointment within 24-48 hours of your appointment, you will be charged 50% of the full-fee for this session. If you cancel or change your appointment within 24 hours of your appointment, you will be charged 100% of the full-fee for this session. Please note that Medicare and private health funds do not provide rebates for cancelled or unattended appointments.
